Arborpelago 3
It's been a while since I've done an Arborpelago, a solo multiworld randomizer. You know I'm into randomizers. The main thing stopping me has been that these things take over my entire brain for weeks.
I'm ready for that to happen again, or at least I will be around January 20, when I plan to start.
Something new I'm introducing for Arborpelago 3 is "sponsored locations", and I need to spend the rest of the post explaining how this works!
- Before the start, viewers will be able to "sponsor" a location and ensure that there's a progress item there.
- For example, you can say that Trinexx in A Link to the Past will have an important item, or becoming a beachstickball champion in A Short Hike, or the Billy Mays room in Super Metroid.
- One way to sponsor a location is to donate to our fundraiser for espie.
- Patreon sponsors will also get to sponsor one location each.
That means I need to tell you what the games are, and link to pages where you can see the location names. When you click the link, open Item & Location Options and look in the lower right box, "Priority Locations", which lists all of your choices including location groups.
So here's the game list!
1. Celeste (Open World randomizer)
- Strawberries, binoculars, gems, crystal hearts, cassettes, and cars are all checks
- No C sides or golden strawberries
- Only 25 strawberries exist, goal requires 20
- Did you know I've never played Core B before? It's in there though
- Options including location names
2. Donkey Kong Country 2
- Coins, banana bunches, balloons, level clears, balloons, and Swanky quiz answers are all item checks
- Spelling KONG is not a check (it's frustrating)
- The goal is to collect Lost World Rocks and defeat K. Rool in the Lost World
- Options including location names
3. Ittle Dew 2
- Items open up connections between regions
- All locations except the Queen and That Guy are included
- Dream World dungeons use the items I have, not the items that are intended
- Treasure chests, free-standing items, boss clears, and signs are item checks
- The goal is to collect 8 raft pieces, which are on bosses
- Ittle Dew 2 doesn't have an options page up anywhere, but here's a really jank list of locations on GitHub
4. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
- Keys, maps, compasses, and instruments are all shuffled between worlds
- The goal is to collect 8 instruments and meet the Wind Fish
- Options including location names
5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Key pots, key drops, and shops are included as item checks
- Keys, maps, and compasses are shuffled between worlds
- Enemies including bosses are randomized ("Enemizer")
- The goal is to collect 7 crystals, clear Ganon's Tower, and defeat Ganon
- Random Ganon's Tower requirement
- Options including location names
6. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
- Keys and important kinstones are shuffled between worlds
- Rupee locations, diving locations, and golden monsters are checks
- The goal is to collect 4 elements from dungeon bosses, and defeat Vaati in Dark Hyrule Castle
- Options including location names
7. A Short Hike
- Only 13 golden feathers exist
- The goal is to get the fox friend to Hawk Peak (which requires 12 golden feathers)
- Options including location names
8. Super Mario 64
- Move randomizer (Mario's movement abilities must be unlocked)
- Stars, 1up boxes, Bob-Omb Buddies, and Bowser keys are checks
- Nonstop mode (collecting a star doesn't end the level)
- Only 40 stars total, to not flood the priority item pool with stars - star requirements are scaled down appropriately
- The goal is to collect 30 stars and defeat Bowser In The Sky
- Options including location names
9. Super Mario World
- Move randomizer (Mario's movement abilities must be unlocked)
- Level clears, moons, all item blocks, and bonus blocks are checks
- Levels are shuffled
- The goal is to beat 10 out of 11 bosses and defeat Bowser
- Options including location names
10. Super Metroid
- Fairly standard options (just the 100 item locations are randomized)
- The goal is to defeat the Golden 4 bosses and Mother Brain
- I am not good at Super Metroid btw
- Options including location names
11. Tunic
- Ladders must be unlocked before they exist
- The three hexagons are somewhere in the Tunic world
- I might go for the normal (bad) ending but I'm really not good at the Heir fight
- Options including location names
12. The Witness
- The puzzles are randomized on Umbra Variety mode
- Door panels are shuffled
- Fast travel warps
- EPs are not included
- The goal is to collect 11 lasers and complete The Challenge
- Options including location names
I hope this made some sense! I'll see you in a couple of weeks for Arborpelago 3!
