Silver Ball Century ep. 15 - 1973
1973 brings us a lot of pinball, including a television-famous pinball machine. Nip-It appeared repeatedly (and anachronistically) on Happy Days, being played by Fonzie in a diner.
I'm limiting myself to 12 machines per episode, so I had to make some cuts. One of them bears mentioning: Gottlieb's Hot Shot, if you include all editions of it, sold over 15,000 copies. That's more than Black Knight and almost as many as Terminator II. I am skipping one of the 20 top-selling pinball machines in history, and it's just because there are so many other machines like it. It's a pool theme. We'll see more of those.
We will see some examples of international machines tonight: Seven Winner from Inder in Spain, and Galaxy from that up-and-coming Japanese game company, Sega.
Silver Ball Century starts tonight (Tuesday, February 11) at 8:30 PM, on twitch.tv/arborelia.
New version of VPX
VPX (Visual Pinball 10) is the emulation software we're using to experience the majority of these pinball machines.
If you're looking to get started with VPX, I have some great news: Visual Pinball 10.8 is released, with an up-to-date all-in-one installer!
Tables in this episode
Instead of listing every Pinball Primer link separately, I'll just assure you that every American pinball table in this episode has a strategy guide in Pinball Primer.
As always, you'll need free accounts on VPUniverse and VPForums to download these VPX tables.
