Incomplete Confluences
Some of the most interesting locations to look at on the Degree Confluence Project are incomplete locations: the ones where people attempted to get there, but failed for various reasons, and posted the reports of their expedition on the website.
Here we have:
- 61°N 46°W in Greenland. They have a picture of the confluence location, but they found themselves on a cliff 300 meters above it.
- 30°N 82°W in Florida. The only incomplete location in Florida, but the "MILITARY MANEUVERS" sign shows a good reason why it's incomplete.
- 39°N 106°E, a protected area near the Great Wall of China that the visitor didn't have a permit to go to, but the intrigued locals did give them 10 yogurt drinks as consolation.
- 39°N 128°E, where the tour guide said, "Okay guys, please listen, I have a present for you now. Now you will get to meet North Korean army." Remarkably, they believe they actually got to the location (while being carefully watched), but they weren't allowed to bring a GPS with them.
